Kavita (A Poem)

The title of this poem is 'Poem' or rather, Kavita which means a poem. Poetry is my solace. You know that feeling of being overwhelmed, shocked and horrified to the point your mind can't take anything more and all systems just shut down inside of you. Well, when that happens to me, instead of that system failure leading to a shut down, I revert to default operations. And my default -always has been and will be- poetry. Hence, the title. Hence, the poem. 

ਕਵਿਤਾ 

A Poem

ਜਦ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਹੈ 

when existence itself is a poem 

ਤਾਂ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲਿੱਖ ਕੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ 

then what would be the point of writing a poem

ਜਦ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਹਾਨੀਅਤ  ਹੈ 

when poetry is spirituality 

ਤਾਂ ਬਿਨ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਵੀ ਕੀ ਮਰਨਾ 

then what would be point in having died without poetry 

ਕਵਿਤਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਕਰਨ ਹੈ 

poetry, is the grammar of life

ਇਸ ਵਿਆਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ 

without grammar

ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ 

why even write(live) the life

ਕਵਿਤਾ ਹਰ ਆਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ 

poetry is the description of hope

ਹੋਂਦ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ 

definition of being  

ਗੁਣਤੰਤਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਹੈ 

It's the rule of Guntantur (a political system based one virtue and ethics) 

ਰੂਹ ਦਾ ਸਵਰਾਜ ਹੈ 

it's the autonomy of soul

ਕਵਿਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ 

Language exists, because poetry does

ਬਿਨ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਬਸ 

without poetry

ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਭਲਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ  

there is only a wish for words
